Richard joined BMS in December 2024. In his role he is focussed on
enhancing C-Suite engagement with BMS (re)insurer carriers and key
strategic clients. Richard is also supporting the continued build-out of BMS’
London and Bermuda reinsurance platform.
Prior to joining BMS, Richard spent the bulk of his career at Benfield Group
and subsequently Aon following the latter’s purchase of Benfield in 2008.
Latterly at Aon, he was Global Head of Climate Strategy - responsible for
driving Aon’s customer focussed strategy with respect to products and
services for climate. Prior to this appointment Richard led Aon’s UK Global
Broking Centre – a Specialty and Wholesale insurance advisory and
brokerage business managing a premium throughput of over $7bn. His
career prior to this was all spent in the reinsurance broking market,
including leading the UK & Ireland, Benelux and Specialties reinsurance
divisions at Aon.
Richard is an elected member of the Council of Lloyd’s of London, the body
responsible for the management and supervision of the Lloyd’s
marketplace. He is the Chair of the Technology and Transformation
Committee. Richard is a former director of Aon UK Limited and the London
Market Group (LMG). He also served on the Board of the London and
International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA) 2018-2022 (as Chair
between 2020 and 2022). He is currently Deputy President at the Insurance
Institute of London
