Bob Forness is Chief Executive Office of MultiStrat Group. Bob has almost 40 years of experience in underwriting, capital advisory and investment. He joined MultiStrat at its inception in 2012 with the vision of expanding collateralized reinsurance solutions for casualty risk and establishing Casualty-Linked Securities (CLS) as an asset class.
The vision aligned with investors’ growing appetite for assets that were uncorrelated with financial markets and didn’t come with the investment risk associated with property-cat Insurance-Linked Securities. It also spoke to reinsurance buyers’ increasing need for innovative and multi-year coverage solutions.
Leading a talented team that has created an industry standard for CLS, Bob enjoys formulating creative structures that satisfy both investors and cedants, whether single transactions or multiline, multiprogram solutions, all underpinned by data-driven, disciplined underwriting. An authoritative voice in the industry, Bob also sees part of his role as educating stakeholders about the possibilities for collateralized casualty reinsurance. He anticipates a sustained period of rapid growth and strong returns in the exciting CLS space.
Bob was previously the Chief Underwriting Officer and a Chief Executive Officer of the Imagine Group. Bob also served as Head of Underwriting and Managing Director of Imagine Lloyd’s. Prior to Imagine, Bob was Chief Operating Officer of Odyssey Re’s international companies and Managing Director of Riverstone UK. He began his career at Prudential Financial, where his last role was Managing Director of Prudential Direct Mutual Funds. He has an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BSc in Applied Economics from Cornell University.
