Jeff Lamb is President, Programs, Alliances & Insurtech for Markel, the
insurance operations within Markel Group. Headquartered in Richmond,
Virginia and founded in 1930, Markel is a Fortune 500 company with
insurance, reinsurance and investment operations around the world.
Jeff is responsible for building out Markel’s US program and alliance
capabilities. The programs segment provides delegated authority solutions to
best-in-class managing general agents (MGAs) and program administrators
for package, casualty, professional, accident and health, warranty, property
and marine and classes with admitted and non-admitted capabilities. The
Alliances segment partners with carriers, carrier brokers and payroll providers
to offer one of Markel’s products to their customers.
With more than 30 years industry experience, Jeff has held various roles
including wholesale broker in St. Louis, underwriting manager in Dallas,
excess and umbrella underwriter in New York City, participant in the General
Re Jump School Training Program in Atlanta and intern for Lloyd’s of London,
NAPSLO (now the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association) and the
Michigan Insurance Bureau.
Since joining Markel in 2001, Jeff served as Chief Operating Officer of Markel
Assurance; Executive Underwriting Officer for Markel Global Insurance and
Markel Wholesale; Managing Director of Underwriting for Markel’s Mid South
Region; Markel Corporation’s Director of Business Development; and Chief
Underwriting Officer for Markel (Investors) Underwriting Managers, Inc. Jeff
earned his bachelors degree from the University of Olivet and received his
master of business administration degree from St. John’s University. He holds
designations as Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and
Associate in Surplus Lines (ASLI).
Jeff is a 18 year and counting member of the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance
Association (WSIA) Internship Committee. He is also past President of the
Executive Committee of Gamma Iota Sigma, the international insurance, risk
management and actuarial science fraternity and a former board member of
The First Tee of Greater Richmond.
